Norbert Kosinski

Norbert was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. He began playing percussion at the
age of 7 and soon became obsessed with all things related to music. From early on his
interests ranged from learning new instruments, playing, writing and recording music,
collecting and repairing old audio equipment and to eventually building instruments of his
own. While studying percussion at DePaul University's School of Music, Norbert began
making and selling drums, cases and other percussion instruments. This eventually lead him
to the position of Percussion Instrument Repair Technian at Northwestern University and
DePaul University.
After graduating from DePaul with a BM in Music Performance and a minor in Business
Administration, he enrolled at the Chicago School of Violin Making where he began his
studies under Rebecca Elliot and Fred Thompson. He completed his education studying
under and working in collaboration with Antoine Nédélec. After graduating from CSVM
Norbert worked for Chicago based luthier, Petio Kostov, before moving to Raleigh to join the
Triangle Strings team. In his free time Norbert enjoys building furniture and collecting and
restoring old tools and machinery.
