Guy Rabut
2009 Violin
Guy Rabut is a long time shop owner based out of New York City. He opened his first workshop there in 1984 and now works out of the Chelsea district of Manhattan. Guy is an alumni of the reputable Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City, class of 1978.
This violin is modeled after the “Plowden” Guarneri del Gesu of 1735, a violin from Guarneri’s “middle” period that Guy expresses as his favorite, namely for its elegant design. The top is made of Italian spruce and the one piece back is made from maple that Guy found while in Switzerland. Most violinists enjoy this violin’s slightly smaller size and find it comfortable to play.
